I didn't have a problem with this on my old MSI Z97 motherboard with realtek onboard sound. The only speakers that play any audio are the front two, neither rear speakers nor the center works even if I set it to 5.1.
No matter what I do, I cannot get my 5.1 speakers to work. This has been the case with 2 of my gigabyte motherboards so far and I'm really regretting buying my last gigabyte motherboard, an X570 I Aorus pro wifi.
